Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a comprehensive and evidence-based form of psychotherapy that was originally developed by psychologist Dr. Marsha M. Linehan in the late 1980s. DBT was initially designed to treat individuals with borderline personality disorder (BPD), but its effectiveness has since been recognized in treating a wide range of mental health conditions.
DBT combines elements of cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) with principles of mindfulness, acceptance, and dialectics. It emphasizes the concept of dialectics, which recognizes the interplay between opposing forces or viewpoints and seeks to find a synthesis or balance between them. The therapy aims to help individuals develop skills to manage distress, regulate emotions, improve interpersonal relationships, and promote a sense of well-being.
With extensive training, our Certified DBT (C-DBT) therapists are ready and able to assist you with any questions or concerns.
